Strolling (40 kms) south from Greymouth, is the town of Hokitika, a former centre for the New Zealand gold rush. Today, it draws people interested in rediscovering the lure of the environment. Hokitika Gorge and its swing bridge delight the eye but also get the heart racing. Hokitika is also proving itself a haven for artists, particularly greenstone carvers. In the sock museum you have the opportunity to knit your own pair!
If you check out all of the things to see and do that are outlined in the first website below, you’ll see why Hokitika makes a trip to the West Coast worthwhile.

Warm feet mean warm hearts.
Hokitika sock knitting –
Unique mementos.
Sound like a fascinating place to visit. I must ask my brother if he’s been then during his time in NZ. Thanks for the post.
