Continuing the perambulations around New Zealand with haiku, today’s centre is Carterton.
Carterton is a service town for the local dairy industry. It lies in the heart of the Wairarapa, in the south-east corner of the North Island and one of sixteen geographic regions of the country. The town is well situated between the spectacular Tararua Ranges and the east coast. It is the self-proclaimed Daffodil Capital of New Zealand and celebrates that with a festival on the second Sunday of September.
